Is my child eligible to attend Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School?

Students seeking enrolment at Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School, must be diagnosed with an intellectual disability. When students enrol at prep or are transferring from a mainstream or private school the cognitive assessment is sent to a ‘special school verification process’. If the student attends a different specialist school and has moved into our area a transfer between schools can be arranged. Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School holds a commitment to support students with an intellectual disability in our local community.

What will my child be taught?

Students are taught the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 (Levels A- D, Foundation and beyond). The Victorian Pathway Certificate is taught in the senior secondary years at the Bullengarook campus from year 10-12. We understand however the educational pathway of each student is unique so we specifically tailor student learning goals through the use of Individual Education Plans, to meet their targeted learning needs.

Are there school fees?

Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School is a government school and therefore does not have compulsory school fees. Our school council recommends parent contributions of $500 per year, or $125 per term which covers all curriculum resources including books and student stationary, bus transport for regular community access and extra curricular activities such as swimming. Families that hold a means tested concession card are eligible for financial assistance through CSEF and state school relief.
